The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim has paid a condolence visit to the palace of the late paramount ruler of Ogbomoso land Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.
The Soun of Ogbomoso who died at the age of 95 having reigned for 48 years was described by the Director General as having lived a fulfilled life.
He described the death of Soun as a great loss to the people of Ogbomoso and indeed Yoruba land.While commiserating with the family and the traditional chiefs of Ogbomoso land ,the D-G prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed monarch.
Responding,the eldest son of the late Royal Majesty Dr. Aderemi Oyewumi, Special Assistant to the National Security Adviser,Babagana Munguno thanked the Director General for the visit. He lauded the Establishment of the National Youth Service Corps that has been a symbol of national unity.
He commended the D-G for his commitment and efforts at ensuring that the relevance of the scheme is most appreciated even when some people were clamouring for disintegration of the country.
He stated that the people of Ogbomoso can never support the group that are agitating for secession because the indigenes of Ogbomoso land are scattered all over the nation.
He mentioned further that the late monarch was an advocate of the National Youth Service Corps and a detribalized Nigerian.
One of the sons of the late Kabiyesi, Prince Oyekunle Oyewumi who is also a member of the NYSC National Governing Board appreciated the D-G for the condolence visit and described the Director General as the most hardworking DG of the scheme.
In attendance were the Royal family,the traditional chiefs,the Director General's entourage which included the State Coordinator, NYSC Oyo State,Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe.
