Due to deplorable condition of Federal roads across the federation, a Human Right Activist, Comrade Bolawa Akindolie has threatened to approach a competent court of jurisdiction and institute a court action against the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA)
The Ondo town-based activist in a later dated 16th of September, 2022, a copy which was made available to our correspondent, lamented over the worsen and deplorable condition of the popular Ondo/Ore as well as Ondo/ Akure roads.
The letter addressed to the Director General of FERMA, Engr. Nurudeen Abdurahman, give the Federal Agency two weeks ultimatum to as a matter of urgency and embark on massive repair of the road which he said is in deplorable conditions.
The Human Activist equally stressed the needs for the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency to list the popular Ore/Ondo highway to the list of its numerous ongoing road construction projects across the federation.
Akindolie, equally in the letter threatened to lead other members of the Human Right Activist and some youths to stage a protest on the road, apparently to display their displeasures over the worsen condition of the roads.
According to him, "the aged-long Ondo/Ore road which was constructed in 1960 shortly after Nigeria Independence is outdated and old enough to be reconstruct, apart from the damage portions which has resulted into accident and claimed many lives on daily basis"
"FERMA has completely abandoned the road, for example in Aponmun community along Ondo Akure highway, sometimes ago last year, the agency embarked on the feeling of the potholes, but later abandoned it have way, this is one of the much reasons am instituting a court action against the agency" he stated.
Lamenting over the bad state of the Ondo/Ore road, noted that apart from affecting the economic situation of the area, explained that several lives have also loss in fatal road accidents occasioned by bad condition of the road.
