Inter-platoon Cultural Carnival holds Nationwide






The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps Oyo State, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe has urged 2022 Batch C stream one corps members to blow the trumpet of unity during the Inter Platoon Cultural Carnival held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin.

She stated that the ultimate goal of the NYSC Cultural Carnival is to use culture to unite Nigerians and bring sustainable peace and national development.

While expressing excitement and pleasure at the colourful display of different cultures by the corps members, she said it was indeed a good opportunity to showcase our rich cultural heritage and promote national unity.

Ogbuogebe stressed that Nigeria is in desperate need of sustaining our unity especially at this time that we are approaching the general elections. 

She enjoined them to shun tribal prejudice, religious bigotry, and ethnicism in order to forge ahead as a nation.

She equally urged them to blow the trumpet of the uniqueness of our culture in every local government areas and in all communities they are posted for their Primary Assignment.

"Though our tribes and tongue differ, but in true unity we must stand". She said.

Earlier the Head of Socials, Mr Lasaki Ajasa in his welcome address encouraged the corps members to seize the opportunity of their service year to work toward uniting the country for national growth and development.

He said the carnival was aimed at reawakening the cultural consciousness among Nigerian youths and  also serve as a platform for cultural integration.



The cultures represented include, Igbo, Fulani, Yoruba, Hausa, Kalabari , Tiv, Igala, Edo among others.

At the end of the colourful event, platoon 10 which represented Igala Culture emerged the winner of the inter platoon cultural carnival competition.

Platoon 8 that showcased Igbo Culture came second while Platoon 6 representing Fulani Culture was placed in the 3rd position.The 4th position was clinched by Platoon 3 adorning Yoruba Culture and 5th position went to platoon 4 that displayed Kalabari Culture. 

The five winning platoons received cash prizes courtesy United Capital Investment made easy Nigeria.
