The Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solution Centre, Ibadan, Pastor Oluronke Esan, has urged Nigerians, especially Christians, to see the season of Christmas as that of thanksgiving, in spite of all odds.
Esan gave the advice on Friday in Ibadan, during the 2022 Christmas Carol organised by the church.
She remarked that the season called for celebration and joy, as mankind was redeemed through the birth of Jesus.
“This season is unique because if Jesus was not born, there wouldn’t have been anything called Christmas and forgiveness of sin.
“We should make it a season of thanksgiving because Christ has reconciled us to our maker, His birth redeemed us and gave us grace to enter into God’s presence.
“I pray that as we sing, dance and praise Him, the joy of this season will never elude us in Jesus name,” Esan said.
In his sermon, the Pastor of the RCCG, Jesus Place, Ibadan, Pastor Francis Oghuma, urged Nigerians, especially Christians to see the season as an opportunity to re-examine their lives and reconcile with God.
“It should be a time of sober reflection; are you where you were last year? unproductive, unreliable, unfaithful, fallen luckwarm and cold?
“Are you sleeping, occupying at all or are you in the list of the blessed in the standard of Psalms 1:1?
“Are you winning souls or men are struggling to win you? The society is today tending on a dangerous side of wickedness because our place of God is not occupied,” he said.
Oghuma advised Christians never to be distracted but be focused and depend on God in spite of all odds.
He enjoined Christians to celebrate this year’s Christmas in a way that would glorify God.
“It’s time to leave our comfort zone and use the celebration of His Birth for our Exodus movement into our place of settlement,” Oghuma said.
Also, a young evangelist, Miss Miracle Aluko, urged parents to raise up godly children and a generation that would proclaim Jesus to the world.
Aluko enjoined them never to have favourites among their children but to love them equally.
“Teach them the way of God, because when they grow in God’s fear, they will love their neighbours and the society will enjoy peace.
“Try to be your children’s best friends so that they can make you their confidant and not rely on friends, internet and social media,” she said. (NAN)
