Ondo State coord debriefs corps members, urges them to commit thier service to God




The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has disclosed that corps members are expected to avail the society their commitment as the mandatory one year service to the fatherland is unto God and man.

The State Coordinator made the disclosure at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko while debriefing the 2022 Batch 'C' (Stream II) corps members who commenced their orientation course three weeks ago.

Mrs. Ani while stressing that some statesmen toiled days and nights to unite the country reiterated that corps members have roles to play in ensuring that the country remain one indivisible entity in line with the trainings, teachings, admonitions and lectures received in camp.

"Distinguished Gentlemen corps members, let me refresh your memory on some wordings of our national anthem which says 'to serve our fatherland, with love and strength and faith'. Remember to serve Nigeria with all your strength and uphold her honour and glory".

The NYSC Ondo State boss reminded the corps members of the Oath of Allegiance they swore to where they promised to have healthy attitude to work and play, and to tackle difficulties and challenges in a disciplined and self-reliant manner.

"My dear promising children, I want to plead with you to endear yourselves into the hearts of people at your places of primary assignment, most importantly, your employers, let them know that you are prepared to serve honestly and faithfully".

"It is important to reiterate the need for you to be humble and respect everyone you will come in contact with. Nigerians cherish respect and I want you to give honour to whom it is due. When you display uncommon attributes or characteristics such as hard work, humility, selflessness, commitment and care towards one another, you are bound to enjoy your service and integrate properly in your host communities".

She appealed to them against reckless and irresponsible use of social media and warned that anyone who hide under the freedom of speech to promote what is not in tandem with the objectives of the Scheme would be prosecuted in line with the NYSC Act and Bye Laws.

The State Coordinator laid emphasis on personal security and welfare, and urged the members of the service corps to take their security seriously and restrain themselves from visiting hot spots and flashpoints within their vicinity.

"Government of the day is not leaving any stone unturned in order to protect your precious lives and property but I want to admonish you to put your ears to the ground and if you discover any untoward acts, report immediately to your Local Government Inspectors and the security personnel in your respective Local Governments whose detailed contacts are in the orientation course service guide".


She informed them that as part of management policy, routine inspection would be undertaken to see them at their various Local Government areas to know how well they are faring and adjusting to life during the service year.

The debriefing exercise had presentation of Veronica buckets by the COVID -19 Vanguards who saw the need of the environment and agreed to make an impact in line with the third cardinal programme of the Scheme, known as Community Development Service (CDS).
