The Overall best graduating student at Federal University Oye Ekiti, for the 2020/2021 academic session, Akinde Mojisola Adunni has said her passion for lecturing was to impact the society at large
She made this known while chatting with our correspondent at the Convocation ceremony held at the institution on Saturday, February 11, 2023
Mojisola, the overall best-graduating student with a CGPA of 4.98, said she was very happy and elated about the outstanding performance which she recorded in the great institution, attributing her latest feat to hard work and prayer.
While recounting her ordeals before attaining success, Mojisola said she faced a lot of challenges but was focused on her priorities.
Her words "I actually applied for a 3 years program, having obtained a National Diploma from the Yaba College of Technology where I graduated with a distinction and won the College Awards for the “Best Overall at ND Level” and “Best Overall Graduating Female Student”.
"I started my learning at the Department of Finance, Federal University Oye Ekiti from 200 Level while i adjust to a new system of education which was challenging initially but I determined to be successful, and I meet with some great people who helped me settle in properly.
She however appreciated the university staff in the faculty of Management sciences for their roles in words of encouragement and stimulus which has earned her this great feat
"This reinforced a great degree of confidence in me, hence I do not hesitate to approach people whenever there is a need for it. One thing I know for certain is that my achievement was only possible because there is an enabling environment, for this I sincerely appreciate the Vice Chancellor and his team" she added
Mojisola, the Ogun born graduate attributed her success to God and her mentor, the Late Dr Patrick Olufemi Adeyeye
"Dr Olufemi helped me to develop the dream to be a graduate and as well as the Overall Best. I didn’t think it would be possible for me, until he challenged me to it, a major contributing factor is the availability of lecturers who love what they do.
"They weren’t just teaching us for the sake of it, they were teaching us to actually understand. I also understand that the University encourages innovative ideas, we received all necessary support when we were to establish a finance club, the “STUDENT FINANCE SOCIETY FUOYE”. This helped me to maintain a great balance between my academic and social activities"
"My goal is to become a professor with extensive industry experience. As a first step towards attaining this, I plan to start a postgraduate degree alongside a graduate internship after my National Youth Service Year. I also plan to write a couple of professional examinations. She said.
