Glitz in Ibadan as Justice Moshood Abass retires

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ibadan branch, has felicitated with Justice Moshood Abass on his retirement from the Oyo State Judiciary as the President, Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal.

Mrs Folasade Aladeniyi, Chairman, Executive Committee of the association, gave the felicitation message on behalf of the branch, in a statement on Wednesday in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Abass will bow out of service on Thursday, April 6, having reached the mandatory 65 years retirement age.

Aladeniyi described the retiring Judge as a highly religious, courageous, brilliant and dedicated judicial officer who had contributed in no small measures and served the Bench meritoriously.


According to her, Abass served well through his well considered rulings, judgments and in the administration of Justice in Oyo State as a High Court Judge and later as the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Oyo State.

“Going through memory lane, Justice Abass was appointed as Justice of the Oyo State High Court on June 27, 2001 and later became the fourth President of the Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal on Oct. 11, 2021.

“He succeeded the likes of retired justices such as Justice Adegboyega Akinteye, Justice Eni Esan and Justice Aderonke Aderemi before his appointment by Gov. seyi Makinde on Oct. 11, 2021 on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).

“The NBA, Ibadan branch urges His Lordship to remain steadfast, compassionate and more dedicated to the cause of justice and protect the rights of the common man even in retirement.

“We wish him long life in good health and sound mind,” Aladeniyi said. (NAN)
