The National President of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Comrade Taiwo Gold had distanced himself from the new association.
In his press release made available to Newsmen, the National President stated that the association will do everything in its capacity to retrieve FIBAN properties back from the suspended state chairman affected.
The statement reads in in parts "It has been brought to my attention that some individuals who either lost out or whose aspirations were dashed at the last national elections of our association have decided to float another association.
"I will like to put it on record that the right to associate is fundamental and can be exercised at any time but the position canvassed by these individuals for floating another association is untrue and misleading.
"However, I congratulate the promoters and wish them well. As it is said, the more, the merrier. I am however confident that someday, we shall all come to terms, individually and collectively, with posterity, the ultimate judge.
"As we encourage those interested in the new association to move on in peace, the Chairman of Oyo State, Seun Awodele who is now a staff of Honour FM no longer has the constitutional right to hold that office, just as his counterpart in Ogun State, Femi Omilani whose recent actions have proved a deliberate intension to run the association around, for reasons best known to him, also lack the constitutional and moral rights to remain in office.
"In exercising my powers as stated in Article 5 Dii, they have seven (7) days from today (June 13, 2023) to vacate and hand over the instrument of office and all association's property in their custody to the highest ranking member in their chapter.
It should also be noted that in line with Article 17 Bi of our constitution, my administration will activate all legal apparatus to retrieve all association's property, acquired or donated to the association including movable and non-movable property. These, for emphasis, include Land, Vehicles and money.
"From today, June 13, 2023, all transactions, particularly withdrawals from the account of Oyo, Osun, Ogun and Lagos State Chapters are hereby stopped. Any contrary action will be treated as fraud. In accordance with Article 10 Ciii, they are to produce the statement of account and financial records, detailing the amount generated as dues, donations, and projects handles for individuals and government among others, from June 2019 till date.
"I have officially notified the relevant security agencies of this development. Therefore, anything contrary will be met with the full wrath of the law. All concerned are therefore advised to comply for their best interest as to do otherwise will be at their peril.
"Let me conclude by appealing to all patriotic, peace-loving and law-abiding members of our association to resist any deliberate attempt to further provoke them.
Please, be assured that as your President, at all times, I will do what is right, for your interest and in the interest of the association.
The struggle has just begun.
