The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has informed Corps members deployed to Oyo State and their counterparts dislodged from Lagos that their patriotism is key to the nation's development as it helps to build a strong working country.
Makinde who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke stated this during the Closing/Terminal parade ceremony of the 2023 Batch C stream 1 orientation course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Iseyin.
He congratulated the Corps members and commended them for their cooperation that has ensured a hitch-free orientation exercise.
He therefore charged them to display a high sense of maturity, discipline, loyalty, and dedication throughout their service year.
Makinde assured Corps members of adequate reward for those that creditably distinguished themselves in a way of adding value to their host communities "for those of you that would pay attention to the development of your host communities by executing viable projects, I assure you such noble efforts would not go unrewarded” he added.
The Governor warned them against reckless life and urged them to make use of their service year to reflect upon their life and take good decisions that would make the future meaningful for them.
He encouraged them to consolidate on the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program they started on camp so as to become self reliant.
Earlier in his address, the State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche appreciated the Corps members and all camp officials for their commitment to service during the three- week programme.
He charged Corps members to remain resolute and accept their postings in good faith. “My dear corps members, in a few moment from now, you shall be given your posting letters to places of primary assignment, most of which shall be in the educational sector. I expect you to take your postings with equanimity and brace up to the challenges of nation building".
Odoba also implored them to nurture and exhibit the leadership traits in them by beginning to dream big about visions that will outlast them in their host communities.
"I therefore charge you to be courageous, resilient, disciplined and un-assuming in the pursuit of your vision in order to actualize them".
He equally encouraged the corps members to cultivate healthy relationship, integrate and learn the culture of their immediate environment as these forms the pillar upon which NYSC stands.
