Rufus Giwa Polytechnic has been renamed as Ondo State University, Owo.
This was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu at a meeting on Tuesday with stakeholders of the Polytechnic as well as High Chiefs from Owo and Isuada communities.
The new University is expected to admit students during the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to Precision Online Newspaper, the current Polytechnic education system will be co-exist with the new University structure until it is phased out.
“The polytechnic Governing Council, management team, Deans of Faculties , High Chiefs representing, Owo, Isuada and Ondo State senior government officials headed by Oladuni Odu attended,” a source at the meeting told Precision Online Newspaper.
