Nysc, a platform to be useful to the society, State coord informs Ondo PCMs

The Ondo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple has informed prospective corps members deployed to the State that the Scheme is designed to make them useful to the society and the nation at large.

The State Coordinator made the statement when he briefed the members of the service corps as to what to expect during the three weeks orientation course and how to navigate their new found environment with friends and colleagues from various backgrounds.

Pepple disclosed that orientation course exercise is designed to toughen the graduate youths and put to trial their perseverance level,  saying that anyone who passed through the Scheme should be an asset to the country.

He said that the camp is a micro nation where all states of the federation and FCT are fully represented to come together and work for the unity of all the constituents that make up Nigeria.

"The arrangement of putting you together under one roof and speaking with one voice on platoon basis was actually designed to make you exchange ideas and proffer solutions to challenges facing us as a nation. In doing so, you will understand what it means to be your brothers' and sisters' keepers. You should encourage bonding and eschew tribalism and ethnicity affiliations".

He explained that long-suffering and perseverance should be the virtues they should cultivate at the camp because the facilities and structures are already stretched, pleading with them for understanding, and promised on his honour that NYSC will never shortchange them.

The amiable administrator disclosed that appointment of Corps Camp Directors is to gauge the abilities of members of the service corps to nation building and to prepare them for positions of leadership in a foreseeable future.

Those appointed as Corps Camp Directors are to serve as go-between the management and corps members and to further decentralise camp administration for effective implementation of policy thrust.

The Coordinator charged the appointees to serve diligently and honestly informing them that they should not betray the confidence their colleagues reposed in them, while at the same time calling other corps members to respect them and abide with whatever information passed to them.

Also, during the briefing, the NYSC Ondo State boss inaugurated the Camp Court and admonished them to be fair to all and discharge their duties without fear or favour but in line with the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws.
