The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth and Community Engagement, Senator Yemi Adaramodu has assured Corps members currently undergoing Orientation Course for the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream two Service year that the issue of unemployment will soon be a thing of the past and their welfare will be upgraded when the NYSC Trust Fund is passed into Law. Senator Adaramodu arrived at the camp with Senator Shuaib Afolabi and Senator Aminu Iya Abbas on an Oversight function to inspect the facilities in the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin.
The Senator gave the assurance of better days ahead for the Youth while addressing the Corps members.
He said NYSC Trust fund bill will provide a sustainable source of funds for the NYSC and support Skill Acquisition programme for corps members, equipping them with practical skills that can enhance their employability and entrepreneurial abilities.
He explained that the NYSC Trust Fund will make the Scheme well established and the fund will ensure the development and uplift of corps members because they will be able to access loan and build on any skill they acquire under the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.He said the Fund will equally enhance the welfare of personnel of the Scheme.
He commended the State Coordinator, NYSC Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche and all the Camp Officials for instilling discipline and patriotism in the Corps members undergoing the Orientation course adding that the environment he met was clean and the Corps members also exhibited an appreciable level of discipline.
Senator Adaramodu mentioned that the NYSC Trust Fund has passed the third reading at the Senate and if the Administration of President Bola Tinubu signs it into law it would aid the evolvement of Nigerian graduates from the fear of uncertainty after their service year.
He stressed that the present government is working to ensure that all graduates are fully prepared for the challenges of leadership by giving them a good lease of life.
The Senator who is the Spokesperson for the Senate and represents Ekiti South Senatorial District at the National Assembly informed the Corps members that the members of the Committee have come to identify with them and to assure them of better hope in our nation.
He expressed that the corps members are the leaders of tomorrow and charged them to work hard for the progress and unity of the country.
