The State Director of Security, Department of State Services (DSS), Ondo State Command, Mr. Muhammed Saidu Hussain, fsi, has disclosed that the Security Service has a long-standing partnership with the National Youth Service Corps.
The State Director of Security made this known when he hosted the new NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, who paid him courtesy call at the Command Headquarters in Akure, the state capital.
Hussain, who is very versatile about NYSC operations, declared that the noble Scheme has done massively in developing the potential of the graduate youths.
According to the intelligence chief, NYSC has remained a laudable scheme that has sustained the unity of the country in line with the vision of the founding fathers.
He said that the Command will continue to build on the robust relationships with NYSC, saying that the collaboration has begun since the establishment of the two institutions.
Hussain, while assuring the NYSC State Coordinator of safety of corps members, especially during the forthcoming governorship election, advised NYSC management to be proactive in ensuring that members of the service corps are educated not to cross the red line.
"I want to assure you of the safety of corps members that will be participating in the governorship election coming up very soon, and I equally want to advise you to embark on the sensitisation of corps members not to jeopardise the sanctity of the electoral process".
The soft-spoken DSS boss hinted that his Command thrived on information and requested that NYSC should furnish them with adequate information whenever they anticipate any possible challenge.
The State Director admonished corps members not to engage in any sharp practices or untowards acts that would expose them to danger during the election, as well as enmeshed themselves in activities unethical to the soaring image of the Scheme.
He sincerely showed appreciation to the State Coordinator for deeming it fit to visit the Command and promised to improve on the synergy already in place with NYSC.
Speaking on her mission to the DSS office, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare said that the need to cement the existing relationships with the DSS brought her to the Command.
The State Coordinator disclosed that NYSC needed the Command as well as the personnel to help provide high-level security to corps members that would participate in the governorship election.
Bakare, who appealed for more synergy between NYSC and the Department, acknowledged the professionalism with which the Command conducted its high tech operations in the state.
She said that her office will continue to interface with the Command whenever there is reason to do so, as she asserted the NYSC relied much on security and intelligence agencies to provide error-free security services to the corps members that NYSC workforce.
The NYSC Ondo State boss thanked the State Director for the quality of officers put at the services of NYSC during orientation courses and other sensitive assignments that required their input.
