The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has reiterated the commitment of the camp administration to ensure that all operations are carried out in line with best global practices.
The State Coordinator made this known in her opening remarks to the Heads of Assignments during the 2025 Batch 'A' (Stream 1) orientation course Steering Committee meeting.
Bakare, who noted that the large number of corps members deployed to Ondo State and their counterparts dislodged from Lagos State stretched the facilities, disclosed that the administration is on top of the situation because of the dynamic approach and participatory leadership style adopted by the Secretariat.
She praised the resilience of all camp officials for the sacrifices made individually and collectively to ensure that the corps members have access to quality services during the orientation course.
The Coordinator specifically mentioned the issue of water and declared that the Secretariat deployed all proactive measures in providing quality water to the entire community but environmental factors created little setbacks, which the management had addressed.
"Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, we flushed and treated all our boreholes, washed all the overhead tanks and serviced all the machines but the water level has failed us, and this is beyond our immediate control, but I need to thank everyone for rising up to the occasion and stabilizing things. I am indeed grateful".
The Coordinator specifically appreciated the indefatigable teams from NYSC Southwest Area Offices 1 and II respectively, for acting truly as partners in progress by coming up with far reaching solutions that assisted to douse the mounting tension and restored normalcy to camp environment.
Reviewing the activities of the second week, the Camp Director, Pastor (Mrs.) Jennifer Funmilola Dawodu said that she was eternally grateful to everyone for putting corps members first ahead of other consideration, saying that their actions sent a signal to the members of the service corps that they were in safe hands.
Dawodu disclosed that Corps Camp Directors have been adequately briefed on the situation on camp, as they were incorporated into the mainstream of camp administration and encouraged to let their colleagues see the efforts of the management which is yielding positive results.
Dawodu appealed to all and sundry to keep their hands on deck and not to rest on their oars but rather keep up the zeal that has ensured success in the previous week.
The Heads of Assignments thereafter gave their brief, while the State Coordinator in her closing remarks reminded the house of the slogan that has become part of camp administration, which is, 'say something when you see something', while confessing that she was proud of them all.

The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has told the corps members that they are strategic to economic emancipation of the country.
The State Coordinator made this known while drawing curtain on the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme for the 2025 Batch 'A' (Stream 1) orientation course.
Expressing optimism at the level of assimilation displayed by the corps members during the Inter-Platoon exhibition/competition, Bakare asserted that they are not a failure by every standard.
"I am highly impressed with what I am seeing today, apart from the aggressive determination you exhibited during the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) and in-camp training, you have shown that your education is not a waste, but rather, an asset to help you master the skills you have chosen. Please, do not relent because a time to celebrate your breakthrough is just around the corner".
The Coordinator hinted that after the sensitization and enlightenment campaign, the corps members shed off the toga of sophistication some of them assumed they had and embraced the skill they convincingly believed will propel them to heights reserved only for those who dare to be different.
She asserted that the NYSC Scheme is dynamic to champion youth empowerment and development, insisting that NYSC remains the leading credible youth organisation in Africa to transform the country into giant technological hub, not only in the continent but on a global market.
The NYSC Ondo State boss encouraged the members of the service corps to pursue post-camp training with all the vigour and strength they have so that unemployment would be reduced to the barest minimum with their mastery of skills and vocations they have passion for.
While reminding them that SAED was not a scam going by the experience and testimonies of serving corps members, she said that the intervention is a lifeline that will lift them from grass to grace.
"I want to implore you not to jettison what you have started during the orientation course, rather you should focus more on the post-camp training which will surely make you a master that you desire to be" she explained.
In her opening remarks, the Head, SAED on camp, Mrs. Rosemary Temitope Oniyesan disclosed that 1,999 made up of 897 males and 1,102 females participated in the EDP while 2,370 corps members made up of 1,039 males and 1,331 females engaged in 20 skills set during the nine days intensive hands-on training.
Oniyesan informed the corps members that NYSC Ondo State is privileged to have her SAED Training Centre where ICT, Fashion, Hair Fascinator, Gele-tying and Catering Services are offered at a discounted rate.
In her goodwill message, the Assistant Director, SAED, Pastor (Mrs.) Jennifer Funmilola Dawodu charged the corps members to make judicious use of the service year to build their capacity through marketing practices and networking that would promote their brand.
Dawodu, who is also the Camp Director for the orientation course thanked everyone for the massive support the programme enjoyed, especially from the State Coordinator and collaborating agencies, confessing that it had been a seamless exercise.
During the Inter-Platoon competition, creativity and ingenuity were showcased on Fashion (Mens' Top), Food Processing (Rice), Barbing and Public Speaking while exhibition of finished products on the sub-skill set were on display.
