FUOYE Implements National Recognition Scheme




In a visionary move aimed at strengthening institutional identity, celebrating national excellence, and fostering strategic engagement, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has completed the official naming of major buildings and facilities across its campuses. 

The milestone was spearheaded by the Directorate of Advancement, under the leadership of Professor Olubukola Oyawoye, working in alignment with the office of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olubunmi Shittu.

Newsline NG learnt that the naming exercise which is a first of its kind in the university's history, symbolizes a bold step in recognising individuals whose lives and service have significantly impacted Nigeria in education, leadership, innovation, public health, media, science, and entrepreneurship.

According to Professor Oyawoye, the initiative is designed to immortalize the contributions of exceptional Nigerians while also inspiring the FUOYE community through the stories and values these names represent.

“This project celebrates the power of legacy,” she said.

“We are proud to associate our university’s future with the footprints of giants across multiple sectors. These names will not only shape identity, but also ignite ambition in our students and  staff

In his reaction, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olubunmi Shittu, praised the initiative as transformational.

"This is more than naming buildings — it's about aligning FUOYE with national ideals of excellence, integrity, and service,” she remarked.

“We deeply appreciate the honourees and congratulate the Directorate of Advancement for delivering a project that blends vision with impact.”

Our correspondent gathered that the implementation was widely praised as FUOYE continues its upward trajectory in academics, infrastructure, and innovation, this initiative marks a defining moment in its journey to becoming a globally recognized institution rooted in purpose, heritage, and excellence.
