Governor Makinde pledges support for Oyo corps members




The 2025 Batch B Stream II Corps Members deployed to Oyo State have officially taken the oath of allegiance, marking the beginning of their one-year mandatory national service at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin.


It was a colourful and spirited atmosphere at the camp, filled with patriotic fervor as the swearing-in ceremony brought together dignitaries, officials, and excited Corps Members in what became both a solemn and celebratory occasion.


The oath of allegiance was administered by the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Honourable Justice Iyabo Yerima, represented by Justice M.O. Ishola, officially inducting the Prospective Corps Members into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The exercise symbolized their pledge to uphold discipline, unity, and service to the nation.


Declaring the Orientation Course open, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, represented by the Director of Youth Development, Alhaja Kuditat Mustapha, commended the NYSC for its role in fostering national integration, peace, and development. 


He assured the Corps Members of the government’s unwavering support for their welfare and security throughout the service year.

Governor Makinde further urged the Corps Members to be shining examples in their host communities while encouraging them to seize the opportunities provided by the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme as a pathway to self-reliance and contribution to national growth.
In his welcome remarks, the Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, congratulated the Corps Members on successfully completing their academic journeys and urged them to embrace the service year with dedication, discipline, and unity.


He noted that the Orientation Exercise was deliberately designed to equip them with skills, resilience, and the spirit of nation-building.


Adding excitement to the day’s event was a thrilling tug of war display by the Man O’ War group, which served as a lively entertainment for guests and Corps Members. 


The demonstration, marked by cheers and applause, not only showcased physical strength but also highlighted the values of teamwork and camaraderie that lie at the heart of the NYSC scheme.

The ceremony ended on a patriotic note, with Corps Members brimming with enthusiasm and a renewed sense of commitment as they embark on their service journey in Oyo State .
