The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Alawode, has pledged continued support for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of corps members serving within the council area.

He made this pledge during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, to his office at the council secretariat in Ibadan.

Hon. Alawode commended the NYSC for its longstanding contribution to grassroots development, particularly in education, health, and community service.

He assured the state coordinator that the local government would continue to create an enabling environment that encourages corps members to thrive and deliver meaningful service to the people.

According to him, corps members remain a valuable part of community progress and must be given every support to perform effectively.

In his remarks, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, expressed appreciation to the chairman and his team for their cordial relationship with the scheme and their sustained commitment to corps welfare.

He noted that the council’s efforts in providing accommodation, security, and logistical support for corps members have contributed significantly to their productivity and morale.

Mr. Peters reiterated that the safety and welfare of corps members remain top priorities for the NYSC, emphasizing that the scheme will continue to work closely with local authorities to maintain a secure and supportive environment.

He appealed for sustained collaboration, especially in addressing challenges that may hinder corps members’ safety and performance.

The State Coordinator further stated that an enabling environment is crucial to the effective implementation of the NYSC’s objectives.

He highlighted that when corps members feel secure and supported, they are better motivated to contribute their skills to community development initiatives, entrepreneurship programmes, and educational projects within their host communities.
While rounding off the visit, Mr. Peters thanked Hon. Alawode for his hospitality and proactive leadership, describing him as a partner in youth development.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the partnership between NYSC and Ibadan South East Local Government for the overall benefit of the corps members, Local Government and the State at large.
