The attention of the Okitipupa Local Government has been drawn to a misleading and sensational report published by Sahara Reporters alleging that the Executive Chairman, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, was detained over a purported land encroachment matter.
This report is not only false and malicious, but a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and distort the facts.
For the avoidance of doubt:
1. Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin was never arrested nor detained by any security agency.
2. He was only invited for clarification, which he honoured willingly and responsibly, as a law-abiding public officer committed to transparency and due process.
3. At no point was his freedom restricted, and he returned to his duties immediately after the brief engagement.
The issue in question concerns an attempt by Dr. Tony Aduro to unlawfully claim a parcel of land that belongs to the Okitipupa Local Government. Dr. Aduro alleges he purchased the said land from an individual purportedly based in Abuja, a claim that lacks legitimacy, documentation, or recognition by the Local Government, which remains the rightful owner and custodian of the property.
The Executive Chairman has consistently upheld the rule of law and has refused to concede any local government property to private individuals through questionable channels or illegal acquisition attempts.
The general public is hereby urged to disregard the inaccurate publication and treat it as the product of mischief-makers attempting to malign the reputation of the Chairman and distract from ongoing development efforts across the Local Government.
Okitipupa Local Government remains committed to protecting public assets, ensuring accountability, and promoting peace, order, and transparency in all engagements.
