The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has removed Michael Ango from his role as Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT‑IRS).
The dismissal was announced in a Friday statement from Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister for Public Communication and Social Media.
According to the statement, the most senior official at the FCT‑IRS has been instructed to assume leadership of the agency on an acting basis with immediate effect. No reason was provided for Ango’s removal at the time of publication.
Ango had been appointed Acting Chairman of the FCT‑IRS , following approval by President Bola Tinubu on 9 August 2024
During his tenure, the agency reported revenue of N262 billion for 2024, exceeding its target of N250 billion and surpassing the N211.1 billion collected in 2023.
