Panic as Police inspector shoots Colleague to Death

A police inspector has been arrested for shooting two of his colleagues at a supermarket in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday afternoon. 

The incident occurred while the officers were on joint guard duty with military personnel at Next Cash and Carry Supermarket in Trans-Amadi.

The victims, Inspector Ibrahim Sani and Inspector Daniel Dauda, were shot in the head and neck. 

Sani died from his injuries, while Dauda is receiving medical treatment. The suspect, Inspector Victor Okus, is attached to 17 PMF but was on special duty at Intels, Onne 

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered a comprehensive and transparent probe into the shooting.

"The suspect will face an orderly room trial and will be subsequently charged to court for prosecution," the police statement said. Adepoju warned officers that handling firearms while on duty is a serious responsibility and not a routine task, stressing the need to prioritize safety to prevent similar tragedies
