Woman Dies After Eating at Boyfriend's House

A woman identified as Esther has reportedly died after visiting her boyfriend in Abuja.

The incident, it was gathered, happened on Wednesday at the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory.

A resident of the area, who gave his name as Dauda, said Esther left home on Wednesday to visit her boyfriend. He said the boyfriend later called her elder brother in the night to inform him of Esther’s death.

Dauda added that the boyfriend claimed he bought her food, after which she started vomiting after eating. He noted that the boyfriend took her to Kubwa General Hospital, where she died while receiving treatment. Dauda said the boyfriend has switched off his phone and that of Esther.

He said, “Esther left home in the afternoon on January 21, 2026, informing her sister that she was going to a bank in Dei-Dei. She, however, did not return home.“

Later that night, the same day, his brother received an anonymous phone call from a man who identified himself as Esther’s boyfriend. The caller re stated that Esther had visited him at his residence, where he bought food for her. After eating the meal, she began vomiting, prompting him to rush her to Kubwa General Hospital.

He said Esther died while receiving treatment at the hospital. Since then her boyfriend’s number has been switched off, same with Esther’s phone number. He did not give his name or address.

When contacted today, the Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said an investigation is ongoing.
