As part of its continuous drive to combat sexual crimes and enhance public safety, the Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, has apprehended one Olamipekun Elegbeleye (male) in connection with cases of rape and armed robbery.
On 21st November, 2025, at about 1130hrs, the suspect allegedly lured a female victim onto his TVS motorcycle under the pretence of conveying her to Afunbiowo Housing Estate, Oke Aro. The suspect reportedly diverted into a nearby bush where he sexually assaulted the victim at gunpoint and dispossessed her of her valuables.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had, in a similar manner and at the same location, allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed four other female victims.
Acting on credible intelligence and technical tracking, operatives of the Command apprehended the suspect at his hideout. Items recovered from him include two SIM cards, two iPhones, a shirt, and Opay and Moniepoint ATM cards, all believed to be properties of his victims.
Investigation further established that the suspect unlawfully transferred money from the victim’s bank account to another bank account. The suspect confessed to the crime, was charged to court, and has been remanded at the Ondo State Correctional Centre, Akure.
The Command expresses deep appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for his purposeful leadership and continued support, which have significantly strengthened intelligence-driven policing and operational efficiency nationwide.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, reiterates the Command’s resolve to ensure the safety of lives and property in the State and assures the good people of Ondo State that perpetrators of violent and sexual crimes will be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice.
