The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has directed the Inspector-General of Police to ensure the Director-General of the council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, appears before the panel on Wednesday, July 29.
The directive was issued on Monday by the chairman of the committee, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, during the continuation of the committee's investigation into the circumstances surrounding the inclusion of the council in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
The lawmakers are examining the legal status, operations and budgetary allocation of the council following reports that the Presidency had disassociated itself from the agency, raising concerns over its establishment and activities.
Speaking during the hearing, Gagdi instructed the police to produce Adeyemi at the next sitting to answer questions relating to the council's legal framework, funding and other issues under investigation.
The committee is expected to resume its hearing on Wednesday as lawmakers continue efforts to establish the facts surrounding the controversial agency and its inclusion in the national budget.
