Petoa City Academy has recorded another academic milestone after emerging as the first runner-up at the CIMET Ekiti Secondary School STEM Quiz Competition, tagged "Battle of the Brains."
The competition, which brought together outstanding secondary schools from across Ekiti State, was designed to promote excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education while providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their academic abilities.
Following the announcement of the competition by the Centre for Innovation in Management, Education and Technology (CIMET), Petoa City Academy commenced intensive preparations for the event. Two students, Ojo Emmanuel and Oluwafemi Semilore, were selected to represent the school after excelling in STEM subjects. They underwent rigorous coaching, mock quiz sessions, and mentorship under the guidance of the school's science teachers.
Their dedication and hard work paid off as Petoa City Academy advanced to the second round of the competition alongside nine other schools. The final stage, held at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre, Ado Ekiti, saw the school emerge as the first runner-up after an impressive display of intelligence, teamwork, and confidence.
Speaking on the achievement, the school's management described the performance as a reflection of its commitment to academic excellence and quality STEM education. The management commended the students for representing the school with distinction and applauded their discipline, resilience, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Petoa City Academy also expressed appreciation to CIMET for organizing the initiative, noting that the competition provides an important platform for students to develop critical thinking skills, build confidence, and compete with their peers across the state.
The school reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing future leaders through quality education and sustained investment in science and technology, expressing optimism that its students will continue to excel in future academic competitions.
