CPNN promises psychological support for rescued kidnapped Oyo children, teachers

The Child Protection Network Nigeria, (CPNN), Oyo State Chapter, has pledged to support rescued abducted students and teachers with psychosocial and mental health care.

The network made this known in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, by its State Coordinator, Dr Rosemary Odigbo.

The News Agency  of Nigeria (NAN) reports the pupils and teachers  abducted during the attack on Ahoro-Esiele Community, in Oriire Local Government Area (LGA), were rescued on Friday.

The victims were abducted on May 15, when heavily armed gunmen invaded the community, kidnapped the pupils, teachers and the principal of the schools.

CPNN said the support would aid full recovery and successful reintegration of the victims.

“We reaffirm our readiness to provide every necessary psychosocial support, counselling, protection services, and reintegration assistance,” the statement read.

To achieve this, the network said it has teamed up with government ministries and other stakeholders.

“Partners include the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, LAUTECH, Oyo NASOW and other relevant bodies.

“The collaboration will ensure coordinated care and support for the victims,” it stated.

CPNN also commended President Bola Tinubu, for commitment to safety of Nigerians.

The group, also praised Gov. Seyi Makinde for exemplary leadership and unwavering support throughout the rescue efforts.

The network commended security agencies, including the army, police, local security operatives for their role and sacrifice for the rescue.

The network further appreciated other stakeholders who stood in support including  religious leaders, traditional rulers, the media, CSOs, etc for their steadfast support and advocacy.

“We commiserate with the families of those who lost their lives during this unfortunate incident, may God grant them comfort, strength, and the grace to bear the painful loss.

“Together, we remain committed to ensuring that every child is protected, every survivor is supported, and every school remains a safe place for learning,” the group said.
