Man Allegedly Kills Wife Over Cooking Dispute

A 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his wife to death following a domestic dispute in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of the state.

The incident reportedly occurred after an argument between the couple over the preparation of a meal escalated into violence.

Confirming the arrest in a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said officers responded to a report that the suspect had physically assaulted his 20-year-old wife, who later died from injuries sustained during the attack.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspect admitted during interrogation that he assaulted his wife in a fit of anger after she allegedly refused to cook food.

"He confessed to committing the act out of anger after the deceased allegedly declined to prepare a meal. The disagreement later escalated into a physical altercation that resulted in her death," Nansel said.

The police further disclosed that the couple had been married for six years and had two children—a boy and a girl.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for a thorough investigation.

The commissioner assured members of the public that justice would be served, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
