The Central Organising Committee for the 2026 Igogo-Ekiti Day Celebrations has affirmed that no night-time programme will be permitted during the forth coming event, citing the prevailing security challenges in the country and the need to guarantee the safety of participants and visitors.
The decision was reached at the recent committee's meeting where progress reports submitted by the various sub-committees responsible for organising the annual celebration were reviewed by members.
The Chairman, Dr Williams Mobolaji Afolabi, who expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations, warned that any individual or group that organises activities outside the events approved by the Central Organising Committee would bear full responsibility for such programmes.
While appealing to Igogo-Ekiti citizens in the Diaspora to participate more actively, not only in the coming event but in the general development of their hometown through meaningful contributions and investments, Afolabi commended committee members and stakeholders for their dedication and efforts towards the success of past celebrations and the overall development of Igogo-Ekiti.
The Chairman urged members to remain committed to community service, stressing that genuine service should be rendered selflessly without expecting immediate rewards or public recognition.
According to him, sustainable community development can only be achieved when citizens willingly contribute their time, resources and expertise for the collective good of the society.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a peaceful, well-coordinated and successful 2026 Igogo-Ekiti Day celebration while urging all stakeholders to cooperate with the approved guidelines in the interest of public safety.
