The 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course in Oyo State came to a successful close with a stirring charge to Corps Members to embrace discipline, patriotism, integrity, and selfless service as they begin their national assignment.
Speaking at the closing ceremony held at the National Youth Service Corps Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin, the Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, described the three-week exercise as a transformative journey that equipped participants with the values, skills, and resilience required for impactful national service.
He congratulated the Corps Members on the successful completion of the first cardinal programme of the Scheme and urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the NYSC wherever they are posted.
The State Coordinator noted that the orientation programme was carefully designed to prepare Corps Members for the demands of service through intensive leadership and citizenship training, lectures on national integration, Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), paramilitary drills, and cultural activities.
According to him, these programmes have laid a solid foundation for responsible leadership, productive engagement, and peaceful coexistence.
He encouraged the Corps Members to translate the knowledge and experiences gained in camp into meaningful contributions within their host communities, stressing that the true essence of national service lies in making lasting developmental impact.
Mr. Peters expressed profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for his unwavering support to the NYSC, which has continued to create an enabling environment for the successful implementation of the Scheme’s programmes.
The State Coordinator further acknowledged the hospitality of the people and traditional institutions of Iseyin, describing their cooperation as invaluable to the success of the orientation exercise.
As the Corps Members proceed to their various Places of Primary Assignment, the State Coordinator urged them to uphold the highest standards of discipline, teamwork, professionalism, and patriotism while integrating seamlessly into their host communities.
He advised them to respect local customs, maintain cordial relationships with their employers and community members, remain security conscious, and actively participate in Community Development Service projects capable of improving the lives of the people.
He reaffirmed that Oyo State remains a peaceful and accommodating environment where Corps Members can maximise the opportunities available for personal growth, innovation, and national development.
Mr. Peters concluded by commending camp officials, collaborating security agencies, trainers, and every stakeholder whose dedication ensured the successful conduct of the Orientation Course.
He wished the Corps Members safe journeys to their respective destinations and a rewarding service year, encouraging them to distinguish themselves through exemplary character, creativity, and commitment to service.
He reminded them that the values cultivated during the orientation exercise should remain their guiding principles as they contribute to national unity, community development, and the enduring objectives of the National Youth Service Corps.
