Imole Campaign Council Raises Alarm Over Adejoorin’s Safety in Detention

The Spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council, Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to harm Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin while in detention, calling on the Nigeria Police Force and relevant authorities to immediately guarantee his safety.

Olajengbesi made the call in a statement shared on his Facebook page and sighted by Newsline NG, where he described the alleged development as “credible and deeply disturbing information.”

According to him, the information received by the campaign council included an allegation involving an unidentified woman who reportedly arrived at the detention facility in a white Hilux vehicle.

Olajengbesi further alleged that the woman was carrying a white handkerchief suspected to contain a harmful substance.

He, however, did not provide details of how the substance was allegedly identified or independently establish the identity and motive of the woman.

Expressing concern over the alleged development, the Imole Campaign Council spokesperson urged Nigerians, media organisations, civil society groups and the international community to pay close attention to the situation surrounding Adejoorin's detention.

He specifically called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police to take immediate steps to protect Adejoorin and ensure that his safety and wellbeing are guaranteed while in custody.

Olajengbesi stressed that nothing should happen to Adejoorin while he remains in detention, warning authorities to take the allegation seriously and prevent any possible threat to his life.

“MAYOWA MUST NOT DIE IN DETENTION,” Olajengbesi stated emphatically in the Facebook post.

He also declared that “the whole world is watching,” underscoring the campaign council's demand for transparency and accountability over the safety of Adejoorin.
