Osun Guber: Reject Vote-Buying, Choose Competent Leader — Prophet Olu-Alo

As the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election draws closer, the leader of the CAC Adamimogo, Prophet Sam Olu-Alo, has urged voters across the state to shun financial inducement and elect a governor based on competence, character and a clear development agenda.

Olu-Alo, while speaking ahead of the election, cautioned voters against allowing monetary offers or other forms of inducement to determine their choice at the polls.

According to him, the future of Osun State should not be sacrificed for temporary financial gains, stressing that voters have a responsibility to carefully assess the candidates seeking their mandate.

The cleric urged residents to scrutinise the records, programmes, policies and leadership capacity of the various candidates before deciding who to support.

He said the electorate should look beyond campaign promises and consider the ability of each candidate to translate proposed policies into tangible development that would improve the lives of residents.

Olu-Alo maintained that good governance requires leaders who possess the competence, integrity and vision to address the challenges confronting the state.

He also advised voters to protect their conscience and exercise their franchise freely, rather than allowing themselves to be influenced by money or material gifts during the electoral process.

The CAC Adamimogo leader noted that while financial inducement might provide temporary relief, the consequences of electing an unsuitable leader could affect the state for years.

He therefore called on eligible voters to turn out peacefully on election day and cast their ballots according to their convictions, rather than being influenced by pressure, ethnic considerations, personal interests or monetary inducement.

The cleric further appealed to political parties and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the election, stressing the need to protect the peace and unity of the state.

As political activities intensify ahead of the August 15 poll, the call has renewed attention to the role of voters in determining the quality of leadership that will emerge in Osun State.

The election is expected to provide voters with an opportunity to assess the candidates and decide who they believe has the competence, character and vision required to govern the state.
