Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has provided cash assistance to victims of flooding across Ondo South Senatorial District as part of efforts to cushion the impact of the disaster on affected residents.
The intervention is expected to provide immediate financial relief to affected households and support their efforts to recover from the effects of the flooding.
The cash palliative is being distributed to 1000 beneficiaries across six local government areas in the south senatorial district, with each beneficiary receiving financial support to help alleviate the hardship caused by the floods.
The beneficiaries are drawn from Ilaje Local Government Area (220), Ese-Odo (170), Okitipupa (160), Odigbo (160), Irele (130), and Ileoluji/Okeigbo (130).
The disbursement exercise is being coordinated by Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, former member of the House of Representatives for the Odigbo/Ileoluji/Okeigbo Federal Constituency, and Hon. Kolade Akinjo, former member of the House of Representatives for the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.
Speaking on the exercise, Hon. Akinjo, who supervised the disbursement for beneficiaries in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas, confirmed that all 220 and 170 beneficiaries in Ilaje and Ese-Odo respectfully had received their cash assistance on Monday, August 10.
He added that the disbursement for beneficiaries in the other local government areas is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 12, as part of the coordinated effort to ensure that all identified victims receive the intervention.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, describing the cash support as a significant relief at a difficult period.
One of the beneficiaries, Chief (Mrs.) Malumi Ibidun Ehuwa commended Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for what they described as his compassion, generosity and concern for the welfare of flood-affected communities, while praying for continued success in his service to the people and nation.
