A 38-year-old woman identified as Susuti Denhan has been found dead with her head severed in Unguwan Abuja, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The tragic incident, which reportedly occurred on Friday, August 21, has generated fear and apprehension among residents of the community, coming shortly after another suspected ritual killing was reported in the area.
Denhan, who was reportedly deaf, was said to have left her residence on Friday but did not return home.
Concerned about her whereabouts, members of her family, alongside other residents, reportedly launched a search for her.
The search eventually led them to a mountain within the community, where her lifeless body was discovered on Saturday. Her head was reportedly missing from the body.
The circumstances surrounding her death remained unclear as of the time of filing this report. The identity of the person or persons responsible for the killing, as well as the motive behind the gruesome act, had not been established.
Residents have reportedly expressed concern over the development, particularly because it occurred in the same community where another suspected ritual killing was recorded earlier in the week.
The latest incident has heightened calls for improved security and increased vigilance among residents, as the community grapples with growing fears over the safety of its people.
As of Saturday evening, the Adamawa State Police Command had reportedly not issued an official statement on the incident.
Authorities are expected to commence investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding Denhan’s death and bring anyone found responsible to justice.
