The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the alleged theft of a Toyota Camry in Idanre Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Akinsanoye Rotimi, Folajimi Temidayo and Oguntunde Sunday, were reportedly involved in a vehicle theft operation in which the stolen car was allegedly dismantled and its components sold as spare parts.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a press release issued on Sunday, October 25, 2026, stating that the arrests followed an intelligence-led investigation initiated after a vehicle theft report was lodged at the Idanre Divisional Police Headquarters on October 12, 2026.
According to the statement, the complainant reported that he discovered at about 6:00 a.m. on the day of the incident that his ash-coloured Toyota Camry, with registration number WEN 302 AA, had gone missing from his residence.
The statement said operatives attached to the Idanre Division immediately launched an investigation, deploying intelligence-gathering techniques to establish the circumstances surrounding the theft and apprehend those responsible.
The investigation reportedly led to the arrest of the first suspect, Akinsanoye Rotimi, who allegedly confessed to masterminding the theft. Information obtained during interrogation subsequently led to the arrest of Folajimi Temidayo and Oguntunde Sunday, both residents of Lagos State.
Further investigation also led to the recovery of a gold-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number WEN 305 AE.
The suspects reportedly disclosed that the complainant's stolen vehicle had been dismantled, with its components sold as spare parts.
The three suspects have since been arraigned before a court over the alleged offences and remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, according to the police.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the importance of public vigilance and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
He stressed that timely and credible information from members of the public remained vital to preventing criminal activities and bringing suspected offenders to justice.
The command reiterated its commitment to tackling vehicle theft and other criminal activities across the state.
