The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the redeployment of four Commissioners of Police (CPs) to different state commands across the country, with CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola appointed as the new Commissioner of Police in Ondo State.
The redeployment followed a series of interviews conducted by the commission to assess the competence, suitability and readiness of the senior police officers for their new responsibilities.
The postings, announced on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, PSC Headquarters, Abuja, also affected the police commands in Plateau, Enugu and Nasarawa states.
Under the new arrangement, CP Sunday J. A. Okoebor, formerly Commissioner of Police, Police Accounts and Budget at the Force Headquarters, has been posted to Plateau State.
Similarly, CP Fidelis Ogarabe, who previously served as Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Annex, Lagos, has been redeployed to Enugu State, while CP Sheikh Mohammed Danko, formerly of the Force Intelligence Annex, Lagos, has been posted to Nasarawa State.
Babalola, who previously served as Commissioner of Police, Special Inquiry, Force Headquarters, Abuja, will now take charge of the Ondo State Police Command.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, said the postings were in accordance with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which empowers the commission to appoint Commissioners of Police for the states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Argungu, who was represented at the event by a board member of the commission, Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, rtd.), said the officers had been found suitable for their new positions following the assessment process.
He said the interviews established that the newly posted commissioners were qualified in both learning and character, urging them to demonstrate impartiality, professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The PSC chairman also charged the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them and meet the expectations associated with their new assignments.
