Death and the Achtimetry of Man: A Call for Good Governance

It is translucently perspicuous that death is a doubtless end of man, irrespective of one’s age, sex, ethnicity, language, wisdom, background, culture, religion, status, influence, affluence, power (both celestial and terrestrial), education and race.  The roles of death in human affairs can never be overemphasized, as it deprograms and reprograms, in a large extent, the characteristic configuration of man. This piece unearths, though not exhaustibly, the potpourri of enigma and challenges confronting the country, while suggested silver bullets are not disparaged in this discourse. It is not unobvious that a vast number of people engross themselves in filthy, illicit, nefarious and malevolent acts, ranging from advertent delay in salary payments, promotion of staff without financial benefits, non-implementation of court judgment because of personal interest, overt marginalization, witch-hunt, victimization, intimidation, oppression, draconianism, brutality, misuse of power, inflict...

By Sunday Afolayan Life is like a rolling wheel Tossing man here and there Up the hill-top s'times it may Down the valley some other time Life journey's like a zig-zag It proceeds by turns and bends The end, to no one, surely uncertain Every man's route is a mixture Of straight and curvy pathways When today your road is smooth Never think it's so to the end When tomorrow is rough and tough And the road is full of slippery hills Never think the end has come The honeycomb you savour today To bile may turn before the morrow The bitter lessons that shatter your hope  Your springboard to the top may become Life's an admixture of joy and sorrow Everyone has a dose of good and bad.
