3 Ondo Students Who Gang-Raped Female Classmate To Be Arraigned

The Ondo state Police command say investigation is still ongoing over three students of the State School of Health Technology, Akure, for allegedly gang-raping a year one female school mate last week.

The suspects who are; Aderoboye Damilola, Eyitayo Charles and Blessing Michael, may be charged to court next week.

The command however disclosed that the suspects who are still in the police custody, will soon be arraigned in court for proper prosecution... 

The trio, according to the spokesperson of the state police command, Femi Joseph will be charged to court to serve as deterrent to those with criminal tendencies.

The three suspects were said to have committed the crime at the residence of the girl’s boyfriend along Akure-Oda road, last week

Joseph said, ” We are going to charge the three suspects to court. We are still investigating the matter”

Court Strikes out Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy Declaration

A High court sitting in Okitipupa has nullified the Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy declaration, holding that the State Government had no power to create a new chieftaincy without the consent of the Rebuja of Osooro land, the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in the communities within Osooro land, including Iju-Odo Community. The court declared that the Rebuja of Osooro land is the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in Osooro land and that the State Government has no power to create a new chieftaincy without following due process.  In a judgement made available to our correspondent, the court also held that the appointment of the 6th defendant as the Oniju of Iju-Odo was null and void, as it was not done in accordance with the custom and tradition of Iju-Odo.
