Kidnapping in Ondo State has reared its ugly head again when some gunmen abducted a WAEC official, Adebayo Gbenga and three other unidentified travellers at Oba Akoko on Owo- Akungba Road in Akoko South West Local Government. This is just as the family of a 20year old Faith Aluko, female, has announced her sudden disappearance since yesterday in Oba-Ile area of Akure, Ondo State It was learnt that Gbenga an official of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) working in Akure, Ondo State office took his son to the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) and a friend of his to school when the incident happened. The source said Gbenga, who was driving his Toyota Corolla car on the road was accosted along with other motorists on the road by gunmen. All roads to Oshinle the location of Sotitobire Church where one year old was kidnapped last month. Situation report says the corpse of the boy was found on the altar of the church. Presently, Oshinle road is blocked with traffic, many Akure residents have trooped there and there are sporadic shootings. There is a tension over the state of health of the founder of Sotitobire Miracle Centre in Akure, Ondo State, Prophet Alfa Babatunde, as he was reportedly collapsed at the detention of the Department of State Service (DSS) today after spending 10 days with the agency without trial in court of law. It would be recalled that the Sotitobire General Overseer was arrested last week Tuesday following a petition by parents of the missing one-year-old boy known as Eniola Gold Kolawole, who went missing at the crèche section of the church during a service on November 10, 2019. President Muhammadu Buhari has named Mr. Muhammad M. Nami as the new chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service. He replaces Mr. Tunde Fowler, whose tenure expired on Monday. He is a tax consultant and graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. “Mr Muhammad, a well-trained tax, accounting and management professional with highly rated qualifications and professional practice and licenses from relevant professional bodies, has almost three decades of practical working experience in Auditing, Tax Management and Advisory and Management services to clients in the banking, manufacturing, services and public sectors as well as non- profit organisations”, the Presidency said in statement by Presidential spokesperson, Mr Garba Shehu, which announced the appointment of Mohammed. A policeman, Idowu Omosuyi who allegedly killed a truck driver, Ade Saleh at Uso in Owo local government has been remanded at Olokuta Correctional Service. Omosuyi was arraigned before a Magistrate court in Akure on a count charge of murder . The offence he committed is contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 on the criminal laws of the Ondo State. According to the prosecution, the police officer was said to have committed the offence on December 2, 2019, at about 2pm, along Uso- Owo road while on official duty. The prosecutor, inspector Goodluck Uloh, told the court he has a motion on notice for the remand of the suspect in Correctional Service. The lawyer representing the suspect , Mr Ikujuni Ademola, opposed the prosecutor’s application and prayed the court to order that the defendant be return to the Police custody. The Ondo state government says he has stopped stop salary payment of 51 workers in the state due to their failure to appear for the last verification exercise conducted for its workforce. The head of service in Ondo state ,Mr Dare Aragbaiye stated this while briefing news men in Akure on the 2019 public service week celebration. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Wednesday sought the permission of his wife,Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu to marry another wife. Akeredolu jokingly stated this while addressing participants during the 2nd summit of Forum for wives of Ondo state officials ( FOWOSO) in Akure, the Ondo state capital. Akeredolu was reacting to a comment credited to a Ghanian  Counselor Lutterodt that adviced rich men to marry more than one wife because a lot of ladies are single and might be getting desperate. Lutterodt also stated that since such men have the financial capability, they should marry more than one wife to assist the female species. The Ondo State Police Command regrets the unfortunate incident leading to the death of a truck driver whose identity is not yet known today 2/12/2019. The deceased was allegedly shot and killed by one of our Men who was on duty with others at about 1 p.m.at a point in USO via Owo. The Command Condemns this barbaric and gruesome murder in its entirety. While "we Commiserate with the family of the deceased, we want to say that the action of this erring officer does not represent what the Nigerian police or the Command stands for. The Nigerian Police and by extension the Ondo State Command respects the sanctity of life and dignity of human person as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution .
