Kidnappers meet Waterloo in Ondo Community

It was a pandemonium and apprehension yesterday when two suspected kidnappers were apprehended at Erusu Akoko in Akoko Northwest local government area of Ondo State when they allegedly attempted to forcefully snatch a baby from her mother in the town.

The kidnappers were said to have come to the community with a waiting vehicle while trying to take away the child.

According to an eyewitness who spoke with SUNSHINETRUTH, “the mother of the child was seen struggling with the duo with loud voice shouting ‘help help’ before the residents of Aga quarters in the town trooped out to over powered the kidnappers and arrested them.

“They were immediately stripped naked by the embittered crowd for what they described as bad omen in the town.

“It was the intervention of the monarch of Erusu-Akoko, Oba Sunday Mogaji (a legal practitioner) who pleaded with his people not to engage in jungle justice on the suspects as the mob tried to lynch them to death,” the witness explained.

Policemen from Okeagbe-Akoko Police Divisional Station were drafted to the town to take the suspects to their station for prosecution.

Our source revealed that the two suspects who were kept in police custody at Okeagbe after preliminary investigation are from Oyin and Erusu but based at Okeagbe Akoko.

When contacted, the police area commander for Ikare Akoko Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police Razak Rauf confirmed that the case had been transferred to state CID in Akure.
