Rugipo 103.3 fm, a station that will impart lives--------- Adedowole

As part of effort of ensuring that information reach the masses through campus journalism, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, unveils her Radio Station, which will serve as voice of people especially within the campus


It was an event full with seventh heaven yesterday as Students  trooped out in mass to celebrate the newly established radio station (Rugipo 103.3 FM) in the school premises 

The event was graced by, Dean of Faculty of Social Science and Communication, Mrs Victoria Omodunni Ayodele, Head of Department  of Languges, Mr Kayode Ariyo, Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mrs Florence Iyadunni Adedowole, among other important dignitaries. 

In her address, the Dean of faculty of Social Sciences and Communication Studies, Mrs Victoria Omodunni Ayodele said she was happy and elated towards the achievement. She congratulated the rector Mr Gani Ogundahunsi and the entire staffs of the school for working tirelessly on the project.



The Dean stressed that the building where the radio station is located, is inside the faculty building in the school said the school has now gotten its own radio station to advertise its programmes to generate more students as well new courses would be introduced.

In the same vein, the Head of Department of Languages, Mr Kayode Ariyo said the establishment of the radio station has been a dream for years and that he was excited that Rugipo 103.3 FM is the first radio station in Owo kingdom.

Ariyo noted that the radio station would serve as training ground for the students of Mass Communication to practice their profession. 

Ariyo commended the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mrs Adedowole Florence Iyadunni for her support, commitment and devotion to making the project come  into reality "the radio station ought to have been on air in year 2012 but there was no fund to finance it, that it took the  grace of God for making it possible".  

He however gave kudos to the school management and members of staff of the department towards the achievement of the project.

In her address, the Head of Department of Mass Communication of the polytechnic, Mrs Adedowole Florence Iyadunni said she felt fulfilled, accomplished and happy towards the achievement.

She said the radio station would serve as voice of the students to the school management, where the students would now have opportunity to express their opinions,adding that things that would impact the lives of the students as well as the entire staffs of the school positively would be aired everyday in order to bring social change.

Adedowole however advised everyone to have the fear of God, always think big, develop oneself to be the best, shun immortal acts and social vices.
