Amidst covid-19 pandemic that is ravaging the world at large, the health workers in Ekiti state have threatened to embark on an indefinite strike, if government fails to meet up with their demands.
Speaking with our correspondent in Ado Ekiti, chairperson of the Joint Health Sector Union, JOHESU Mrs Omotola Farotimi highlighted some of the worker’s demands to include payment of their four months outstanding salaries, payment of their Gross salaries, ten months deductions among others.
Mrs Farotimi explained that the union had given government several ultimatums but it seems it was not ready to attend to their agitations.
She wondered why government could be treating health workers with disdain especially now that they have put their lives at risk to combat the covid-19 pandemic.
According to her, if government did to do the needful before the expiration of the new ultimatum the workers would have no option than to down tool.

However, the workers in the state have given the state government eight days ultimatum to do the needful.
