PDP Primary election Commences




The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Ondo state has commenced at the International Events acentre, Dome in Akure.

Accreditation of delegates kicked started around 12 noon in a very cordinated and peaceful manner.

Heavy security presence is on ground to ensure riot free atmosphere all through the election process.

According to the PDP State party Secretariat, over 2000 delegates are to partake in the electoral process to choose the party’s candidate ahead of the October 10, governorship election in Ondo state.

According to reliable source in the party, the primaries will be competitive as no aspirant is willing or has indicated to step down for another even as the election has commenced.

The Eight aspirants jostling for the ticket of the party are former Federal Lawmaker, Dr Bode Ayorinde; former governorship candidate of the PDP, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN and the current Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi who defected to the party recently.


Also in the race are former Commissioner under Olusegun Mimiko, Olusola Ebiseni and former Senator, Boluwaji Kunlere.

Voting process has started in a peaceful manner.

Earlier addressing newsmen, chairman electoral committee ,Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state assured the party and people of fairness and justice in all the process.

Some of the aspirants who spoke to newsmen,including Eyitayo Jegede SAN , Eddy Olafeso, and Bode Ayorinde expressed satisfaction so far with the process but call for more security enforcement safeguard and guarantee the entire process.

As at the time of filling this report  it was confirm that only four local government council area have gone through the voting process, including Akoko North East and West, Akoko South West, Ondo West, Ose, Owo, while Ese Odo local government is ongoing.
