A former House of Representatives member, Kolawole Babatunde made this disclosure in an interview recently.
He commended the wife of Ondo state Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for her kind gestures aimed at reducing hardship of widows in Ondo State
Kolawole noted that the good deeds of Akeredolu's wife has brought succor to the vulnerable widows in the State.
It will be recalled that the wife of the Governor and her team have just concluded a tour of all the entire State, during which relief items were distributed to this group of people in need.
The incentives given included foofstuff, cash and grinding machines.
The Governor's aide, Kolawole who is also a frontline leader of Akoko South East Local Government, said he was elated by the benevolence extended to his environment by the First Lady.
"My joy knew no bounds when Mr Gov's wife visited my Local Government Area as she distributed relief packages to vulnerables widows.
"This kind of gesture will go a long way in assisting the widows and vulnerable residents to have a sense of belonging considering the effects of Covid-19 pandemic"
He stated further by saying that Akeredolu's wife has continued to make giant strides in empowering the womenfolk as a way of supporting the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu-led administration.
"She has been attending to women's matter in Akeredolu’s administration through her various pet programmes.
"The Forum for Wives of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO) provides a platform for female appointees of the government at both the state and local government levels as well as the wives of top officials of government to interact at regular intervals to chart a new course for development.
Under the umbrella of FOWOSO, thousands of women across the 18 LGAs of Ondo State have been empowered with various items through the Women Empowerment Outreach organised by the Office of the Wife of Ondo State Governor for economic sustainability"
"Some of the items distributed during the empowerment outreach included hybrid laptop computers, grinding machines, hair drying machines, and sewing machines. The beneficiaries were trained in various skill acquisition programmes, including ICT, fashion designing, hair dressing, shoe making, soap and disinfectant production, bead making and make overs artistry"
In the same vein, Babatunde also hailed Mrs Akeredolu on her financial support to breast cancer victims who have been struggling with the dreaded disease.
He also showered encomium on the First Lady for helping no fewer than 500 young girls through BEMORE.
"Since its inception in 2018 an Annual Summer Boot Camp is being organized during which the girls go through ICT training, solar panel development, skill acquisition programmes among others"
"Over 500 young girls have been empowered through the BEMORE Empowered Initiative since its birth. A good number of these young girls have had the rare opportunity of being sponsored overseas for various training programmes", he said.
