Ondo: Corps members urged to intensify aggressive campaign against COVID-19

The Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Foluke Aladenola has advised the corps members to intensify aggressive campaign against Coronavirus pandemic. The Permanent Secretary offered this advise when she hosted the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani in her office. Pharmacist Aladenola said that the recent happenings across the globe is a verifiable evidence that COVID -19 is still very much in our midst. Baba Ijesha may be released Friday – Police source

A senior officer at the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed to PUNCH Metro that a directive had been given for the release of Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, from custody. The source said due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, courts had ceased from sitting and the suspect could not be detained indefinitely without trial. The source, however, said investigation into the recent allegation against Omiyinka revealed that he did not defile the victim, adding that when she was questioned, the victim confirmed the same. The Lagos State Government has handed over 26-year-old homeless amputee and single mother, Mary Daniel to the Nigerian Police, Non governmental organisations(NGO) and other agencies after discovering her true identity.  It will be recalled that, Mary Daniel came into to limelight after her pictures surfaced online, hawking despite her leg being amputated  Daniel was handed over to the traditional leader and other agencies with about N25 million in her private account when the government discovered that the stories earlier narrated by the amputee were conflicting coupled with strange calls coming from people suspected to be those that she worked for before her discovery. Ondo State records 85 per cent coverage of COVID-19 vaccination

Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency. The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi have started the mobilization of indigenes of Akure speaking communities both at home and in the diaspora towards supporting the smooth take off of the FUTA Medical School and the Teaching Hospital. Oba Aladetoyinbo who inaugurated the two committees of Mobilization/Fund Raising and Project at his palace at the weekend said the move became necessary as a way of giving maximum support to the Governing Council and Management of FUTA. Two motorcyclists crushed to death in Ondo

Two motorcyclists were reported to have been crushed to death in a motor accident in Akungba, Akoko South West Local Government.  According to our Veracity news online , the accident happened on Sunday afternoon when a Toyota Hiace bus crushed two motorcyclists to death in the University Community It was reliably gathered that the two motorcyclists had head-on-collsion, before the unsuspecting 18-Passengers bus from Ikare axis crushed the survivors of the first accident. EKSU: Five students arrested for alleged cultism

Five students of the Ekiti State University Ado Ekiti have been arrested for alleged cultism by the police. A statement by the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Sunday Abutu confirms that the students were arrested during an initiation ceremony in a bush behind the campus. The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria has expressed disappointment over the alleged sexual abuse of a teenager by actor, Olarenwaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha. Odumakin remains a star even in death - Makinde

Oyo State Governor, 'Seyi Makinde, said on Saturday that the late spokesman of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Comrade Yinka Odumakin, remained a shining light even in death. Governor Makinde stated this while paying tribute to the late Afenifere chieftain during a funeral service held at the Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro, Osun State. A woman identified as Nanko Happiness Emmanuel has killed her husband’s new wife, Napre Blessing Emmanuel in a fight Happiness who is the senior wife, hit Blessing with a wooden object on April 7 during a fight. Not satisfied, she also used a hoe to cut her head and her body which eventually resulted to her death. Makinde promise to encourage sports devt at the grassroots levels

Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, declared that the state government will continue to encourage sports development at the grassroots. The governor, who stated this while hosting the Oyo State athletes and coaches at the just concluded National Sports Festival (NSF), Edo 2021, at the Executive Council Chamber, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, added that his administration has been committing funds to upgrade sports facilities as a way of enhancing development.
