The Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has reminded the generality of staff to extend as usual, the unequalled hospitality the Secretariat is known for to the prospective corps members when they report to the camp.
The State Coordinator made the statement today during the general staff meeting preceding the 2021 Batch 'A' (Stream II) orientation course.
According to Mrs. Ani, the meeting was conveyed to brief the staff about the new normal of the NYSC operations and to step down the resolutions adopted at the Pre Orientation Workshop held last week in Nasarawa State.
"It is an incontrovertible fact that we have been hosting orientation courses from the time immemorial but let me tell you that human beings, especially youths are restive and love to do things differently and in their own way. Extend your warmth reception towards them and let them know that you cherish them just like your biological children, brother or sister so the negative perception they had before coming for service will melt away on arrival at the camp gate".
She encouraged staff to remain role models to the younger generations and correct them in love as this will give them sense of belonging which will always bring them affection and this in turn will attract pleasant surprises sooner than anticipated.
"Many corps members appreciates in special ways those who invested in their lives and make them better personalities during the service year and the leadership qualities bequeathed on them has helped some of them to occupy various positions of authority. Providence may smile on you one day and the corps member you treated with dignity and love will remember you for good and reward you bountifully".
"Concerning the forthcoming orientation course, we all know that we are in an uncommon period the world over as a result of COVID -19 and this has placed more responsibilities on us to take the bull by the horns and put all hands on deck".
"I wish to charge you to brace up to all assigned duties and do same to the best of your ability. By so doing, you are living up to expectations of the management who has left no stone unturned to ensure that we run all our programmes and activities annually in line with the NYSC Year Planner".
The State Coordinator disclosed that the Scheme under the impressive leadership of the Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has declared zero tolerance for security lapses.
"The Director General is very passionate about the security of all corps members, both serving and prospective as well as staff and other personnels from collaborating agencies. To this end, he has directed that security apparatuses and networks should be geared towards absolute protection of all participants".
"Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has put all machineries in place to ensure that we complied fully with the protocols of COVID -19 as well as improved security architecture" she said.
The Camp Director, Mrs. Itohan Ehimwenma appealed to all members of staff to work together as a team so that they can robustly achieve the theme for the orientation course whick is Leveraging on Synergy and Excellence Towards the New Normal.
Mrs. Ehimwenma solicited for the cooperation and support of all and sundry so that NYSC Ondo State will continue to remain at the top.
"A tree cannot make a forest and your zeal at ensuring that we do not lag behind in the implementation of the set policies among the Secretariats is what I am honestly and earnestly canvassing for and I am confident that with you in the team, sky would be our starting point".
The 2021 Batch 'A' (Stream II) orientation course whose registration is staggered for five days in line with COVID -19 protocol will hold between Tuesday, 18th May and Monday, 7th June, 2021 while Swearing in Ceremony comes up on Friday, 21st May, 2021.
