OYO NYSC: CORPS MEMBERS TASKED ON DIGITAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS



A Digital Skill Training Coordinator with Mind The Gap, Mr Adedayo Fasoyinro has advised corps members to participate in digital skills development so they can compete effectively in the 21st century economy.

Adedayo gave the advice while addressing the 2021 Batch 'A' (Stream 2) corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Iseyin, Oyo state 

He noted that the demand for 21st century skills, particularly digital and technological skills, is higher than ever before.

According to him, "the Covid-19 pandemic has forced establishments, companies and industries to result to using digital solutions hence the need to ensure that Nigeria's economy should be piloted by young and innovative Nigerians.  He said they are more capable of developing and deploying advanced digital technologies across critical sectors of the nation's economy.


Mr. Fasoyinro  who said his organization which is focused on youth and community development is partnering with the NYSC scheme to train the graduate youths with the right digital and technological skills. He went further that the training would enable them sail on board seamlessly into the more versatile, flexible, and resilient workforce occasioned by the growing demand for digital skills in the global workforce.

The highlight of the event was the interplatoon debate competition on the topic- "Leadership is not just a position but a prestigious lifestyle of empathy, vision, competence and influence". 

At the end of the debate Babalola Oluwafunmi (OY/20A/2672) and Etsu Blessing (OY/20A/4292) who represented platoon number two emerged winners. Platoon 7 and 6 came up as first and second runners up respectively.
