Rugipo staffs protest over unpaid salaries

The Non-Academic staff union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic (SSANIP), Rugipo chapter staged a peaceful protest at the early hour of today over unpaid 8 months' salaries.

The Staffs, through the Chairman of SSANIP, Comrade Prince Owolabi, lamented that their families are made to suffer untold hardship as the state government refuses to pay their outstanding 8 months salaries.

The chairman of Non-academic staffs union, Comr. Obayoriade Adebayo, in his address, says their gathering basically is to pray to God for mercy and not to crucify the state government under the leadership of Gov. Odunayo Akeredolu.

However, the Olowo of Owo, His Royal Majesty Oba Gbadegesin Ajibade Ogunoye 3, represented by his chiefs, assured the staffs of the institution that their agitation will be attended to before the next 2 weeks.

The Rector of the institution Mr Ogundahunsi, however appreciates the leaders and workers of NASU and SSANIP for not relenting in their duties despite the unpaid salaries.

"The state government have heard our voice and promised to provide solutions to our problem in no time" he added.
