Corps members have been charged to impact their host communities and bring about positive change that will ensure sustainable development of the society.
The NYSC Director, Mr. Leke Abiodun gave the charge while addressing the 2021 Batch B (Stream 1) Corps members undergoing the Orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin.
He said that he was impressed with the state of the camp following his inspection of the camp facilities.
According to him it shows that the corps members are of good conduct and ready to carry out the assignment ahead of them in achieving the mandate of our founding fathers.
"As good ambassadors of the Scheme let the change be seen in you wherever you are posted. You are the agent of change that will positively impact our society". Says the Director.
Mr. Abiodun used the opportunity to encourage the corps members to continue to take up skills under the SAED program which is geared towards empowering them.
He advised them not to be hesistant in embracing the SAED program while on camp and after the orientation exercise for mastery of their chosen skill. Stating that the program helps to turn them from being job seekers to entrepreneur and wealth creators.
He also cautioned them to be security conscious in their Places of Primary Assignment, while integrating and establishing lasting relationship amongst themselves and members of the host communities.
The Director further informed the Corps members that the Management frowns at Corps members embarking on unauthorised trips and night journeys.Stating that the period of service is not a time for gallivanting.
Earlier in her remark, the State Coordinator Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe intimated the Director Audit, Mr. Leke Abiodun with the state of the Camp, stating records have shown that the present corps members have been conducting themselves with the utmost propriety.
She applauded the Director for finding time to admonish the corps members whereby they will gain the opportunity to draw from his wealth of experience.
Highlights of the visit were the display of the Unity dance and three Hearty cheers to the Director by the Corps members. He also had interactive session with the NYSC officials where he charged them to value their jobs by obeying the rules and ethics of the work.
