The Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe has affirmed that no culture is superior to another rather people should appreciate and learn from each other's culture for the unification of our country Nigeria.
Ogbuogebe, made the affirmation during the 2021 Batch C (Stream l) Inter-platoon Carnival/ Cultural day.
She stated that youths who are leaders of our great nation should be able to appreciate our rich cultural heritage. She said the Carnival was meant to bring the youth together for them to celebrate our rich cultures which unify us.
The State Coordinator equally encouraged the corps members to learn and integrate with the culture of their host communities in the course of their service year.
"Don't despise or have prejudice over other people's culture "
The corps members beautifully adorned in colourful attires representing different tribes and cultures that cut across our nation entertained the audience.
The carnival/cultural display also witnessed the introduction/ engagement rite of two intending couple who coincidentally were deployed to the State. The lovebirds Micheal Segun OY/21C/1379 and Omotola Oguntoyinbo (OY/21C/1649) had their Introduction ceremony under the rich Yoruba marriage rites and custom.They were part of the presentation by number nine platoon.
The event which depicts one of the major strengths of the Scheme "Unity in diversity" had number Nine platoon showcasing the Yoruba culture emerging the overall winner while number five platoon displaying TIV culture clinched the second position.
The third position went to number Three platoon which displayed Edo culture.
