Rugipo: Student to resume next week Monday

The Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Chapter, Comr. Chris Olowolade has disclosed that the suspension of his Union's activities by the School Management on Tuesday, 4th of January, 2022., has been lifted.

He revealed this during a telephone interview with one of our correspondents, after the peaceful demonstration with placards, by the Unions who converged at the institution's main gate on Wednesday, 5th of January, 2022., over the Unions suspension of activities and unpaid salaries.

However, Chris explained that, the Ondo State Government, School Management and the Unions (SSANIP and NASU), arrived at a positive resolution, which prompted the disbursement of two (2) full months salary arrears, of 100% and the balance of the Unions January salary arrears of 35% were paid, out of the 13 months salaries owned by the State Government.

He stressed that, all staff of the institution, including the Academic and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) members, were included in the payroll.

Meanwhile, he explained that the members (congress) of the associations, will make further decision on the salary arrears yet to be paid, later in future.

Chris acknowledged the effort of the Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, School Management and the Nigeria Labour Congress (N.L.C.), Ondo State Chapter, for their swift response to the steps taken, in order to curb the situation.

He added that, the stipulated time for school's resumption has not changed, stressing that normal activities will commence on Monday as scheduled.

In His words, ''They have announced students resumption date earlier, which is on the 10th of January, 2022''.
