Timber dealers kidnapped in Ondo

Gunmen struck yesterday at Auga—Akunnu axis in Akoko North West Local Area of Ondo State, kidnapping no fewer than three persons.

It was gathered that the abducted victims chiefly timber dealers from Ogun State came to Ikare Akoko to purchase planks and decided to ply the Akunnu-Auga route as exit way when the gunmen ambushed them. 

Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer of Ikare-Akoko, SP Akintelure Akinwande, said three persons were kidnapped but one of abductees was rescued by the Police.

In separate interviews with our correspondent, the Monarch of Auga, Oba. Samuel Agunloye and the regent of Akunnu, Princess Tolani, said they have mobilised local hunters and vigilantes to join other security agents to rescue the remaining two victims.
